Candidate

Concord Town Chairperson

Concord’s friendly, rural atmosphere is important to me

Concord offers the best in country living. Let’s keep it that way by limiting development to that allowed in the town plan. Concord is friendly, not crowded, yet is close to shopping, jobs, hospitals and many other facilities.

The Community Center, parks, town annual picnic, Historical Society, etc. all add to Concord’s high quality of life.

I will adhere to the Concord Town Plan

Many Concord citizens worked over three years to produce a town plan which limits development and maintains a rural atmosphere. Everyone in Concord was welcome to participate. Questionnaires were sent to every residence asking for input. The town plan and details of its development can be viewed on the Concord town website (concordwisconsin.org/town-plan).

Changes to Concord should be made by Concord citizens thoughtfully changing the town plan.

Being a rural town saves tax dollars

The town itself accounts for about 11% of your property tax dollars. Increasing development in the town would raise your taxes by requiring more (or bigger) schools, roads, and other infrastructure.

Spacious Acres is an integral part of Concord

I strongly support the town’s role in ensuring that the Spacious Acres mobile home park is a nice-looking and functional place to live as described in the town ordinance (Chapter 12.06). I believe having a well-maintained park is in the best interest of the residents, the town and the park ownership.

Who am I?

I have lived in Concord for about 45 years and have been a regular at town meetings. I have served as a Concord town board supervisor in the past. During that time, the first wave of cell towers were being sited in Concord and Jefferson County. Working with the county and other towns, we reduced the number of towers needed by requiring that tower siting permits allow multiple carrier antennas to be placed on each tower at a reasonable lease fee.

Over the years I’ve helped with many town projects like fixing the heating system at the Community Center, helping at the road maintenance shop, creating and running the town website, changing the wiring at the town park to accommodate all the crockpots and warming pans at the town picnic, helping out with picnic shopping, working with the Concord Historical Society, etc.

I was also very involved in the creation of the town plan. Having a plan for the town that reflects a place you would like to live is important. Over the years I’ve very much enjoyed living in Concord. Preserving Concord’s friendly rural atmosphere is what persuaded me to run for town chair. Being retired allows me to have a pretty flexible schedule for attending to town business.
