Business Land Use

Concord is intent on staying a rural agricultural community. Businesses larger than home businesses are almost entirely limited to the Town Hamlet. Citizens' desire is to have only small businesses in the Hamlet. Below is a map of the Hamlet represented by the gray on the map. The Hamlet is located just south of the Hwy F and I-94 interchange.

The intent of the hamlet is to maintain and allow for incremental infill growth of the Town’s original hamlet area, including a mix of single-family residential and commercial uses on private, independent water and sewer systems. The Town prefers business uses that are locally owned and operated and that are compatible with the small-town character of the hamlet. The Town will ensure the suitability and compatibility of new or expanded businesses in the hamlet by applying criteria to the design and operations of the business (such as criteria related to traffic, lighting, etc.); see section 10.C of the town plan for a full list of criteria in the Concord Comprehensive Plan.
